"We live and train at 7500+; the less oxygen, the better!"
ABOUT THE EPXC BOBCATS
We are the Estes Park Bobcats Cross Country program, or commonly referred to as EPXC, of Estes Park High School in Estes Park, Colorado.
The Estes Park School District was established in 1883 with the high school's first graduating class in 1914. EPHS is located in the eastern valley foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is a part of the Estes Park School District. It is a member of the Colorado High Schools Activities Association (CHSAA).
The Estes Park Bobcat Cross Country program has been providing quality long distance training since 1978.
We are a tight-knitted family, not by blood but by sweat. We run because we believe it is the most difficult sport of all. We put in the long training hours, rigorous work ethic, and sheer determination of ‘not giving up’. We are able to endure both the physical stresses of running and the mental stress of constantly thinking, “Wait, why the heck am I doing this? This is horrible.” Our legs ache, our stomachs rip, our lungs burn and our hearts about to explode with each and every step, practice & race. We rise above the physical demands and constantly test our mental persistence. We live and train at 7500ft. and higher where oxygen is limited. We run on the beautiful trails of Rocky Mountain National Park and repetitively challenge ourselves with the relentless uphills & downhills.. The words, “tired, too hard, and why” are not in our vocabulary. Nevertheless, EPXC celebrates with one another the demands of cross-country but also the victories of success.
